I've been in Colorado Springs for a month now. It's been great to see a new biome in the country. Admittedly, the first week was spent recovering from a too-dense schedule of exams and graduation and then the drive from Tennessee. But I have gotten to ride my bike in some new places. Here's one of them:

Red Rock Canyon Open Space

This place used to be a rock quarry. Now it's a public space with walking and bicycle trails. Overall, I got to see the spring-summer transition here. It snowed the week before I got here, so the warm weather happened two months after Tennessee (the beginning of March). The city is gorgeous. The foothills of the Rocky Mountains stand ever-present to the west; the neighborhoods tend to be gently sloped. On hills, you can see for miles. Pine trees hold the title of dominant macroflora in this ecosystem, but a hardy variety of plants emerge happily to bright summer sun. The vertical development of Colorado Springs is minimal. But the suburban sprawl lines the hills like southern California. The city has clearly experienced an influx of people in the last several years. Many neighborhoods on the outskirts are newly developed.

I got this domain shortly before finals, so I have only had a splash page. This website isn't fancy; that, to me, is part of its purpose. I built the html and CSS myself using CodeAcademy lessons and w3schools. I don't know javascript yet, so don't expect any animations. But here it is! You're reading it! Internet is a heck of a printing press. More content will come soon. Tomorrow I'll post a few pictures from last week's road trip to L.A., like this one captured in Utah:

West of Green River, Utah.

Thanks for reading. Stay tuned for more adventure updates on this blog.
